Why We Homeschool
When we decided to homeschool, our primary goal was to create an educational experience that truly honored our children as individuals. We’ve discovered that one-on-one learning, tailored to their personal pace and passions, has been incredibly advantageous. This approach allows us to see them for who they are and guide them in ways that resonate with their unique bent.
A core part of their learning journey has been their love for reading. Our children are voracious readers who make it their mission to reach the library book checkout limit. This enthusiasm for literature propels them into new worlds and ignites new interests. Having read to them from an early age, we’ve seen them blossom into self-learners and leaderseager to explore what they enjoy.
Our daily approach to learning is not a traditional “school all day” model. Instead, we value focused learning time over a rigid schedule. We concentrate our efforts for a compact amount of time, ensuring our children grasp concepts through direct engagement and a quick check for understanding and application. This intentional focus allows us to make the most of our time together.
The rest of the day is a blend of play, electives, and real-world experiences, including the errands we run for our home. This balance ensures that learning isn’t confined to a desk but is a vibrant, active part of our lives.
Our curriculum journey has been a “wavy” one, and we’ve embraced it. We’ve learned that a single math curriculum may not work for every child, and that’s okay. The freedom to find the right fit for each individual has been a significant blessing. Watching our children, and ourselves, grow together in this educational journey has strengthened our family bonds in a way we never imagined.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to have a positive impact on our children’s lives. We look forward to continuing this lifetime journey of learning and growth together.
